All the young people were at Roskilde Music Festival, which is held once a year in July, so the city became a home to only elders and tourists. The ticket to this 4-days festival, in middle of nowhere, costs approx 230EUR, and on top of it, you have to bring your own tent and find your place to stay. The door opens earlier in order to have all the people get settled and warmed-up; so you can say it's a week of partying non-stop.
Since 1971 Roskilde Festival has presented acts like Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Beastie Boys, Björk, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Solomon Burke, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Grace Jones, Judas Priest, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Korn, Kraftwerk, Marilyn Manson, Bob Marley, Metallica, Muse, My Bloody Valentine, New Order, Nirvana, Prince, Queens Of The Stone Age, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ravi Shankar, Slayer, Slipknot, The Streets, The Strokes, Talking Heads, Tiësto, Tool, U2, Robbie Williams, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The White Stripes, The Who, Brian Wilson, Wu-Tang Clan, Neil Young and many many others.
I was at Roskilde Festival in 2009, where the big acts of Coldplay, Kanye West and Trentemoller took place. Besides these famous bands, various bands from all over the world play. Basically, it is a festival NOT TO MISS.
I took some photos you can see below to show you what Roskilde Festival does to the Copenhagen. Literally nobody would be in CPH! Enjoy the photos of empty Copenhagen!
